It’s been a minute! I’d every intention of showing up here with my writer’s hat on whilst still balancing my homeware business - but that hasn’t happened! The truth is, I’ve allowed echo to organically dwindle as my writing work has bloomed and in the wonderful way of the universe, I now appear to be making a living as a writer.
The love I have for homeware hasn’t dissipated, but I feel from now on, it will be a personal hobby rather than a professional one - and that feels very right for where I am right now. Never one to over plan - or even plan, I find myself knee deep in fulfilling writing assignments in my role as a freelance writer - and, I really like it.
So - officially I’ve done nothing, but internally, echo is gracefully bowing out - and to every single one of you who has supported me on this venture I thank you from the bottom of my heart; I’ve made friends for life and I hope - I dearly hope I’m able to hang on to you here, and be of some little pickle of interest as I plod on.
You see, I really really want to publish my book and that’s my next personal project which I’d love to share more of - if it feels of interest to you. It’s taken me a while to feel ready to talk about it - there’s something very gorgeous about being alone with my words in a space where no one can get to them- certainly on the days I’m in the ‘hate’ bit of my love/hate relationship with what I’ve written as it’s evolved through its various stages.
Today however, I’m feeling bold - perhaps even reckless, and I’ve always been one to trust the instincts which today are telling me to share. I also really value the feedback you’ve always given me and hope you don’t mind me flipping it on it’s head and making it about words rather than vases.
SO, dear accidental reader! My question to you is - would you read this book? And it’s fine if you wouldn’t - I’ve come to inherently value the concept that by trying to appeal to all, there’s a risk of being bland, so I feel quite ok with the fact that some people may align with my way of words, and others may not - in fact it’s as important that some don’t - in some warped way it feels like I’m doing something right!
Also - the subject matter may make you go ‘oooh yes I like the sound of that’ or it may do the opposite, and that’s ok too. I’d hugely value your feedback.
The timing feels right and I think that’s maybe because I’m in a stage of ‘like’ with what I’ve written - partly because I’ve recognised that what feels ‘true’ for me is writing in a way that echo’s how I speak. I tried to upgrade it but it didn’t feel right - I’m not that fancy and I don’t want to write in a way that pretends that I am.
So… without further ado, can I introduce you to the proposal of (working title) The People Puzzle - and how to solve it by Elizabeth Nagle (that’s me :-)

Learn the art of being a people person by understanding the unique personality traits inbuilt in each one of us. A discussion of people in all of our glorious forms bringing understanding and clarity to the fundamental way in which we react to one another. Why do some people make our soul sing, and others make our bodies instantly tense? How can we successfully engage with people we find a little bit tricky?
Injected with poignant quotes this book aims to inspire, enlighten and spark conversation with its relatable content and fresh take on how to get the most from your interactions.
This book is written for every woman I’ve ever had a conversation with about the complexities of navigating friendships and relationships, alongside every single one of us who have struggled with people who seemingly come from another planet.
Those who appreciate a little chuckle whilst they read, with material that’s easy to connect to with an optional opportunity for the reader to delve inwards and learn more about themselves if they choose to do so. Alternatively they can read it in a more detached way enjoying what I hope is a stand alone, engaging and conversational text featuring relatable stories throughout.
Expect a fun and lighthearted style of writing balanced with integrity and depth. I’m committed to offering a thorough and deep exploration of the subjects discussed in a way the reader will find enlightening as well as amusing. The book flips between dealing with people we wouldn't necessarily choose to be around and the chosen few we call friends. This evolves into a hearty look at what it takes to be a friend and what it takes to be a brilliant communicator. Boundaries - charisma - balance & beyond.
Whilst books written by experts and professionals are undoubtedly brilliant, jargon, statistics and over detailing can sometimes alienate the reader from enjoying a fully immersive experience which is why I’m passionate about being able to bring forward a book written about people to people written by an entirely normal person.
It’s conversational in tone but backed up by the principles outlined by Thomas Erikson in his book Surrounded by Idiots which identifies the four main types of human behaviour. I use his framework as a baseline to further explore the subjects in the book. This means it’s got elements with real grit and genuinely helpful information to dig into, whilst at the same time remaining down to earth and completely relatable.
In my mind there is nothing more interesting than learning about why people behave in the way they do, and I believe that fascination is present in all of us as it directly affects us every day of our lives. I hope it fascinates you enough to want to read ‘The People Puzzle’ and how to solve it :-)
